Why Our Agents Love Autumn in New York: Dog-Friendly Places & Trips with Mike Fabbri

by | Oct 24, 2024

For Mike Fabbri, fall is the perfect time to enjoy the city with his two beloved dogs. With his roots in the East Coast and a passion for NYC’s unique lifestyle, Mike knows all the best spots for dog lovers to embrace autumn in the city. He shares his go-to dog-friendly places and tips for making the most of the season with your furry friends.

What activities do you like to do with your dogs in the fall?

Autumn in New York is the best time of year—everyone and their pup is back in the city. I love taking my dogs on long walks through different neighborhoods; you never know who you’ll bump into while exploring. Plus, the cooler weather is perfect for breaking out their sweaters and jackets. And in a city like NYC, even a casual walk can feel like a runway—so why not look good while you’re at it?

What are some of your favorite dog parks in the area?

I’m not a huge fan of dog parks, so I swear by DogTown NY in the West Village for daycare. Colin and Julie run an amazing space with plenty of room for the dogs to play and run around. It’s fully supervised and safe, so I know my dogs are in good hands while having the time of their lives.

Are there any dog-friendly cafes or restaurants nearby where folks can enjoy the fall weather?

Yes, we’re regulars at Hutch & Waldo on Irving Place in Gramercy. Not only is it dog-friendly—they actually encourage it! They’ve got water bowls and treats on hand for the pups, which makes it such a welcoming spot. We love starting the day with a coffee and some treats, people-watching, and meeting other dog lovers. Afterward, we usually do a couple of laps around Gramercy Park.

Can you recommend any nearby fall getaways or weekend trips that are particularly dog-friendly?

We have a country home in Litchfield County, Connecticut, which is the perfect spot for a fall weekend getaway, especially if you’re bringing your dogs along. There are plenty of dog-friendly inns and charming spots to stay, like The White Hart Inn in Salisbury or the Mayflower Inn in Washington. Both offer cozy accommodations, and you’re surrounded by beautiful hiking trails that are ideal for taking in the fall foliage. It’s the perfect mix of scenic views, outdoor activities, and a welcoming atmosphere for both you and your dogs.
