If you’re looking to cozy up with some delicious food this fall, The Agency New York’s Tami Kurtz has you covered. From popular spots to vibey hidden gems, Tami’s got the scoop on where to eat in the city right now.
What are your top three restaurants to visit in the fall? And what dishes do you recommend trying for each?
Via Carota is excellent any time of year, but especially cozy and welcoming in the fall. Always, always order their Insalata Verde, so simple, but so fresh and tasty! I often follow with lemon risotto, but always check their specials and add a negroni.
I Sodi. Start with the Burrata appetizer, add the fried artichokes if they are on the special menu as no place does them better and you simply cannot miss the lasagne! Their lasagne is a slice of heaven, so many layers of melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. Talk about fall cozy, their new location at the corner of Bleecker and Grove Streets in a townhouse is made for fall meals.
Da Claudio is my local neighborhood gem. Here I start with their arugula salad and always ask what the pasta special is, especially if it’s risotto special. They often offer a butternut squash risotto this time of year that is delicious! The chef knows best in my opinion and his specials never fail. They also make the best homemade tiramisu and you must try it! Everyone is treated like family here and it’s such a welcoming atmosphere.
What’s one hidden gem restaurant you love for fall, and what makes it stand out from the rest?
A hidden gem of a restaurant is The House of the Red Pearl by world-renowned chef Jean Georges. It’s tucked behind an Asian market on the second floor of the spectacular Tin Building in the Seaport. It is Jean Georges’s take on Asian food and every dish is so unique and incredibly tasty. My favorites are tuna tartare, stir-fried pea shoots and Dungeness crab fried rice. It’s such a fun hidden experience with a unique menu.
