In the event that you don’t want to remain horizontal all day, the Village has plenty to offer by way of shopping and entertainment. On a nice afternoon, Washington Square Park is the perfect spot to picnic or people watch. Take your dog for a run or relax with a book to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Between April and October be sure to visit the Jefferson Market Garden, a hidden gem with a charming history. On a rainy day, retreat to one of the several art theaters like the IFC Center, Film Forum, or Quad Cinema to catch an independent or foreign flick.
Once defined by its collection of funky and rather unconventional shops (you know what I’m talking about), the Village has evolved to include many chic and high-end boutiques as well. Ladies can definitely get into trouble at Otte, 3NY, and Maje, to name a few. Gents should check out Freeman’s Sporting Club, Gant Rugger, and Odin. And don’t miss the weekly sample sales at Chelsea Market, where some of your favorite designers can be found at a bargain.
