For those of you who live to drink, the Village also boasts a great bar scene. No matter what your goal is for the night, there’s something to satisfy every mood. If partying is your main concern, hit Diablo Royale for their Spicy Mango Margarita or Wilfie & Nell for their great selection of draft beers. Looking to unwind somewhere a bit more low-key? Head to Swine for their No Rest for the Wicked cocktail or Ditch Plains for their tasty Surfer Sangria. If you just want to cut to the chase, Down the Hatch and Village Tavern are your typical dives. Catch the game and get rowdy with buddies at Blue Haven or Windsor. For a swanky vibe, head to De Santos and order their Pepino Diablo or try The Scheme at Highlands.
If you want to make more of a night out of it than dinner and drinks (we are in New York City, after all), snag tickets to a jazz or comedy show. The Village is home to some of the world’s most reputable venues. Check the line up at Comedy Cellar, which has hosted famous comedians like Dave Chappelle and Jerry Seinfeld. To get your dose of culture without having to set foot in a museum, stop by the Village Vanguard or Blue Note where some of the world’s most talented jazz musicians perform. Even if you’re not a fan of the music genre, you might be pleasantly surprised. And at the very least, you can usually count on a celeb spotting or two.
