Q: What inspired your journey into interior design, particularly your focus on rejuvenating heritage properties?

A: My career in interior design was a natural progression fueled by my love for creativity and my background in business. I have always been fascinated with heritage properties and the rich history and architectural beauty they bring. There’s something incredibly rewarding about preserving the essence of the past while infusing it with modern elements to breathe new life into these timeless spaces.

Q: Your design philosophy seems to blend the Australian lifestyle with Scandinavian influences. Can you tell us more about how these cultural elements shape your work?

A: Absolutely. Growing up in Australia and living in various countries has exposed me to diverse cultural lifestyles. I’ve always been drawn to the laid-back, yet sophisticated aesthetic of Australian living, which seamlessly complements the minimalist elegance of Scandinavian design. My goal is to create spaces that reflect the warmth and hospitality of Australian homes while embodying the clean lines and simplicity characteristic of the Scandinavian style.

Q: How do you approach storytelling through your designs, particularly in the context of rejuvenating heritage properties?

A: For me, storytelling is at the heart of every design project. When rejuvenating heritage properties, I delve into the history and unique character of the space, seeking inspiration from its past lives and the stories it holds. I strive to preserve the original features while incorporating modern elements that honor the property’s heritage and breathe new life into its narrative.

Q: Your emphasis on natural materials and textures, such as marble and aged brass, is evident in your work. What draws you to these elements, and how do you incorporate them into your designs?

A: Natural materials have an inherent beauty and timelessness that I find captivating. I love details, and the unique veins of marble and the glow of brass add interest and complexity to a space. I allow them to shine as focal points while complementing the overall aesthetic of the design.

Q: What do you hope people feel when they step into one of your designed spaces?

A: Above all, I want people to feel a sense of calmness and tranquility when they enter my spaces. I aim to create environments that envelop them in luxury and comfort, where they can unwind, connect with loved ones, and feel truly at home. It’s about evoking emotions and creating experiences that resonate on a deeper level, leaving a lasting impression long after they’ve left the room.
