Winter is coming and it’s getting colder by the day. It’s the perfect time to check out new art galleries or exhibits in our favorite museums in New York.

The Met Breuer: Contemporary Art
PC: metmuseum.org
The title of the current exhibit at the Met Breuer says it all; “Delirious: Art at the Limit of Reason.” Some 100 works by 62 artists depict the overall ambiance of distrust after World War I and embrace irrationality. Works by Eva Hesse, Ana Mendieta, and Peter Saul are part of the contemporary exhibit. If you like weird, seemingly random art, this is for you.

Queens Museum: New York As It Could Have Been
PC: designboom.com
The exhibit “Never Built New York” explores our city’s architecture in a hypothetical way. What would it have looked like if turned-down objects had actually been built?
The projects that were once planned, but never made it to completion, range from vain to kind of cool and then back to insane. A floating airport on the Upper West Side, bridges supported by apartment complexes, or a football stadium in the middle of Manhattan are just a few examples. This alternate universe is being depicted through animations, models, and illustrations collated from over 40 archives.

The New Museum: Gender Fluidity

“Trigger: Gender as a Tool and a Weapon” is just one of five exhibits going on at the New Museum in Manhattan right now, but it’s very intriguing. The exhibition’s purpose is battling gender concepts and opening viewers up to new ideas of the broad spectrum of gender.
The New Museum is the only museum in Manhattan that is dedicated solely to contemporary art and embraces sophisticated, out-of-the-box projects.

The Drawing Center: Cabinet of Horrors
PC: drawingcenter.org
At the Drawing Center, feminist artist Judith Bernstein is displaying her disgust and disrespect for President Donald Trump. Her graphic, sometimes comical, illustrations express her anger towards the president in a graphic, direct way.
The New Yorker has dubbed Bernstein as an “unsung hero to generations of feminists,” recognizing her honest voice and bold style. Bernstein is never shy of commenting on society and politics through her work, beginning in the 1960s with her criticism of the Vietnam war.
