What’s the best thing about your profession?
I bring the scientific process to business decision-making. Understanding why we believe what we believe, and the evidence for that. In my experience, better data leads to better models, leads to better decisions. At Triplemint, I get to quantify my love for the city and help clients make better decisions that help achieve their goals of happiness.
What’s your favorite quote?
The fundamental root of Bayesian statistics is we can infer the probability of a hypothesis, given the probabilities of evidence – by reversing the equation and asking ourselves what is the probability the evidence given the hypothesis is true. Then given new evidence, we can update or change our beliefs.
What has been your proudest moment at Triplemint?
Tongue in cheek: Every day I have a proud moment, and it keeps me going. I laid down a challenge for 100 agents and on my first day, which was to locate a model shoot I did from Seventeen Magazine. I believe I provided enough information; I offered the magazine, the year, what publication, and yet no one has found it. I’m still winning 🙂
What do you do for fun outside of Triplemint?
I love competitive ocean racing. My last race was at the ‘Heineken Regatta’ in St.Maarten in early March. I’ve raced the Atlantic on a 70 foot yacht. I’m looking to do the Middle Sea Race, which is around the island of Sicily starting in Malta. It goes past active volcanoes and the Straits of Messina. The real goal is to race southern ocean past Cape Horn, which is a place few people have gone. The waves are 60ft high, powerful winds with no land to block them, and it’s cold and dangerous: but with great downwind racing.
