Rent Philip Seymour Hoffman’s West Village Apartment

by | Aug 2, 2016

Phillip Seymour Hoffman‘s apartment just recently hit the rental market once again. The apartment was originally listed for rent back in March 2014, just one month after Hoffman’s drug overdose (which happened in the very same apartment).

History of 35 Bethune Street1

The original asking price was $10,500 back in 2014, but the price, this time, is starting out at $10,250. This demonstrates a small price increase from when Hoffman originally rented the West Village unit, costing $9,995 in late 2013.

The apartment appears to have been vacant since Hoffman passed away back in February 2014, nearly 2.5 years ago. Unfortunately for the landlord, it is probably difficult to overcome the stigma for an apartment where a celebrity death occurred.

Between the media and the neighbors, it would be hard for a prospective tenant to forget about this unfortunate incident.

35 Bethune Street #4D2

This two bedroom, two bathroom, loft-like apartment is only one block from the Hudson River. It is also within walking distance of the newly minted Whitney museum.

The apartment has several oversized windows on the north and west sides of the apartment to complement the 10-foot wood beam ceilings throughout the apartment.

Featuring glass tiles, Calacatta marble, a rain shower head, and heated limestone floors, the restrooms within the apartment have been renovated from top to bottom. There is also custom cabinetry and Toto toilets in both bathrooms to complete this extravagant renovation.

The Pickwick House3

The building has a rich history as a former printing plant that was first built in 1880. Then in 1984, the Pickwick was completely gutted and remodeled into a residential building with 24 units.

Each floor has a free washer and dryer available for the building tenants. There is also a video intercom available for each unit with the super being onsite five days a week.
