Former owner of the Golden State Warriors, Chris Cohan, purchased a three bedroom, 2,400 square foot condo for close to 10 million according to reports from therealdeal.com. Mr. Cohan and his wife purchased the condo in early February according to NYC property tax records. While Mr. Cohan did not have the best of luck while he was an NBA owner, suffering through 14 losing seasons, his luck appears to have changed when it pertains to purchasing New York City real estate. The condo once listed at 11.9 million in early 2015, appears to have been a steal at $9.8 million. This may be the universe’s way of passing on some much needed karma to Mr. Cohan.
The Plaza hotel, better known as, “The Plaza” was built in 1907, has twenty-one floors, and consists of 181 condos. Mr. Cohan and his wife should be well taken care of when spending time at their newest addition. Each condo comes with high ceilings, early 1900’s accurate molding, stone countertops, and marble mosaic backsplashes. Lucky for the Cohan’s, this luxury will be there new home. Besides the beautiful condos themselves, residents also have a wide assortment of amenities at their fingertips including access to “The Plaza’s” Palm restaurant, the Vinotherapie Spa, the Warren-Tricomi Salon, and a La Palestra fitness center. Residents may find it hard to leave the property with these amenities just a few steps away. Besides the nearby retail amenities, the standard 24 hour concierge and doorman, nanny service, limousine service, and even turn down service are available to all residents. I guess roughing it would mean no mint on the pillow?
Welcome to the Neighborhood.
If you would like the opportunity to try to borrow a cup of sugar from Mr. Cohan, there are over 30 condo’s currently available for sale ranging from $1.5 million all the way up to $50 million. Considering all of the amenities you have access to on a daily basis that may not be a bad deal. If you looking for a not so permanent arrangement they have several apartments available for rent as well ranging from $7,000 to $32,000 per month, all of which are unfortunately currently out of my price range. Wheter to rent or buy, thats a post for another time though. Either way, it is hard to beat the charm of 100 year old accents with modern conveniences. Turn down service every night, how could you ever put a price tag on a service like that?
