Hot Things to Do in Flatiron

by | Mar 2, 2017

Get it? Hot? Flat-iron? No? Okay, I’ll proceed…
The Flatiron District is a staple of Manhattan brimming with activity. It is the namesake of the Flatiron Building, which acts a compass towering over and orienting the thousands of residents, tourists, and commuters that frequent the area daily.

Despite its compact size, the neighborhood is flooded by locals and visitors taking advantage of numerous activities the area has to offer. With so many fascinating attractions in close vicinity to each other, it is no surprise that the Flatiron District is one of NYC’s most notable neighborhoods.

Madison Square Park

Neighboring the iconic Flatiron Building, Madison Square Park is a beautiful grassy area that acts as a refuge from the city mayhem. A Shake Shack sits upon a sandy outdoor pavilion where the masses congregate to eat, relax, and converse.
The dog park appeals to locals and tourists alike; it is not uncommon to see plenty of phones and cameras out snapping pics of adorable dogs expending excess energy. A large playground rests at the northern edge, and several trees add to the natural aesthetic. Many appreciate the abundance of statues and public art as well, adding to the park’s alluring qualities.

Museum of Sex

While this attraction is only available for those 18 years and up, the Museum of Sex provides an interesting perspective on education about human history and culture. Alternatively called MoSex, it is most memorable for its name, but its exhibits will certainly leave an impression in a way you might not expect.
Established in an educational format, the Museum of Sex aims to encourage open discourse and exchange through its exhibitions, programs, and publications. The content may be polarizing and graphic for some, but the museum provides unique insight to the history and significance of human sexuality.
