Our Los Cabos agents are off to a busy start of the year, listing one of the most stunning properties in the region. Robb Report got the exclusive on Casa Escondida, an extraordinary $8.15 million mansion with incredible ocean views, represented by Janet Jensen, Jonathan Ruiz and Lisa Torres. In the article, This Sprawling $8 Million Mansion in Cabo Has All The Extras, Robb Report writes that the villa is as close to being your own private resort as possible. The expansive, 9,880-square-foot mansion boasts sweeping Sea of Cortez views, nine bedrooms and ten baths, located on a 1.5-acre, double lot in the Fundadores neighborhood of Puerto Los Cabos. Steps from the beach, the hacienda-style home features seamless indoor-outdoor living, an office, infinity pool, children’s pool with a natural rock waterfall, wet bar, wine storage, outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven, 13-seat theater, a spa with a steam room, sauna and fitness studio, a sports court, bocce ball court and fruit orchard.
The possibility of owning a personal resort-style home in a gated community is what drew buyers back to the Baja California market in 2020, as reported in The Red Paper, The Agency’s annual report. Travelers from the U.S. and major Mexican cities headed to the Baja coast for R&R at their second homes and high-end rentals in gated communities, such as Puerto Los Cabos, Chileno Bay, El Dorado and Villas Del Mar. Many are choosing to work and study from the comfort of their beachside abodes, enjoying life with an ocean view, tennis court and golf course at their doorstep. In 2020, single-family home prices rose 17% as inventory dipped by a third at year’s end, compared to 2019. Demand for premier second homes is expected to rise this year, as well as extended stays in high-end rental properties.
Those seeking more off-the-beaten-path experiences are heading north to Todos Santos and La Paz, where land is abundant. Todos Santos has been no exception to the surge in market activity, with pending sales surpassing the US$1M benchmark in 2020. Ranch properties, with fruit orchards, plenty of room to roam and high-speed wifi, were in high demand. La Paz, the Baja Sur capital on the Sea of Cortez, also saw an uptick in sales and high-end rentals, especially at the picturesque properties of Playa de La Paz and Puerta Cortés.
The Agency Los Cabos Managing Partner Bernardo Mucino Koenig currently has three properties on the market at Playa de La Paz, a gated, beachfront community offering residents an olympic-sized swimming pool, private gym, tennis courts and private beach cabanas.
