Accessibility
Going to and from Astoria is actually very convenient and very quick (assuming you’re near a major subway station). From Union Square to Astoria, the commute can take 20 minutes easily, and since Astoria Ditmars Blvd is the last stop for the (N & W) subway lines, you can enjoy a smooth and convenient ride into Astoria as you try (but eventually will) not to nap on the subway. For easy vertical travel, the (N & W (yes, I already said these I know) subway lines will take you up and down everywhere. However, if you find yourself on the (M & R) line, the 36st Street stop will be surprising and lifesaving.
For those wishing for an easier horizontal travel aside from those things you call feet, the (Q18 & Q102) bus lines can provide some solace. However, to make it more convenient, the (Q69) bus can transport you further up or down Astoria. Despite the accommodating transportation options, I can’t emphasize enough the charm of simply walking around Astoria. Check out Astoria Park and I guarantee you won’t regret it.
Lifestyle
If I had to describe Astoria in one word it would be artsy. It’s a fluff word, but it aptly describes a majority of this neighborhood. Astoria Park provides some amazing Manhattan views in one of the largest open spaces in NYC. Featuring a gigantic pool with ample features, Astoria Park is where you’ll find many residents playing tennis, taking selfies with the Hell Gate Bride, or trying not to freeze to death in the pool. The Museum of the Moving Image (pronounced Mommy) is another locale to appreciate beautiful works of art as they flutter around in front of you. However, Socrates Sculpture Park is where you’ll find plenty of residents and families alike enjoying their time and gazing upon one of the many architectural masterpieces.

Astoria features a variety of restaurants from juicy burgers to Greek sweets. You can grab a quick bite at Petey’s Burger for some quality meat (bonus: they only use black Angus beef).
