For this ambitious re-envisioning of the former Inn at Laguna Beach, Marc & Rose Hospitality assembled a design dream team: Venice-based architecture and interior design studio Electric Bowery, alongside graphic and branding firm LAND, and landscape architects ORCA. The result is a property that melds the elegance of a Mediterranean villa with the laid-back energy of California’s surf culture. The redesign doesn’t just capture the beauty of its surroundings—it enhances it.
“Our goal was to reimagine Casa Loma as more than just a hotel—it’s a place where guests can feel an intimate connection to Laguna Beach’s natural beauty and creative history,” said John Grossman, President of Marc & Rose. “We collaborated with partners who understand that hospitality is an art form and that a stay here should feel as personal and thoughtful as a visit to an old friend’s coastal villa.”

Electric Bowery’s design takes inspiration from the textures and tones of the Pacific coastline, with interiors that encourage beachside reflection. The influence of Mallorca is present in the architectural forms and color palette—think sandy neutrals, soft clay, and sea-glass greens—creating a seamless blend between indoor spaces and the iconic beach beyond. Curved archways, sun-bathed murals, and handcrafted furnishings evoke a sense of artisanal craft, while maintaining the bohemian energy that defines Laguna Beach.
Outside the rooms, Casa Loma’s public spaces have been meticulously curated to encourage guests to mingle, relax, and soak in the coastal scenery. The lobby, with its floor-to-ceiling windows framing breathtaking ocean views, immediately sets the tone. The interiors feature custom-built beds and furnishings, with organic shapes that evoke the undulating waves of the Pacific. Light floods in from large windows, many of which open onto private balconies with sweeping views of the ocean and the beach below. Design flourishes like woven textiles, checkered benches, and custom lighting fixtures ensure each space feels effortlessly chic.
For those who appreciate the details, the rooms are filled with thoughtful touches: D.S. & DURGA toiletries, Canyon Coffee pour-over stations, and Tivoli radios set to Casa Loma’s custom soundtrack—carefully curated by hospitality sound design firm Uncanned.
