Summer in Turks & Caicos brings warm, ocean currents and endless sunshine to the island archipelago. Here are our picks of places to go and things to do to make the most of your summer in TCI.
EXPLORE HERE – Grace Bay Beach in Providenciales offers some of the best walk-in snorkeling in the Caribbean. Stroll in from the white-sand shores near the Coral Gardens resort to enjoy fantastic, knee-deep snorkeling at The Bight Reef. With summer water temps in the 80s, you can spend hours snorkeling with the tropical fish as they swim in and out of the reef’s many mini-caves. The area offers snorkeling for all ages and abilities, with waters ranging from 3 feet deep to 16 feet as you snorkel out toward the buoys on the outer edge of the area.
TEE OFF HERE – With emerald-green fairways, chalk-white bunkers, swaying palms and sparkling inland lakes, it’s no wonder Provo Golf Club is celebrated as one of the top golf courses in the Caribbean. The 18-hole championship course, frequented by herons and migrating flamingos, is open to members and nonmembers alike. The club also features tennis courts and the Fairways Bar and Grill, which offers signature Caribbean dishes, cocktails and a casual, laid-back atmosphere.
ENJOY A COLD PINT HERE – What’s better than an ice cold beer on a hot summer’s day in Turks & Caicos? Serving up the only locally brewed beer is Turks Head Brewery, an island favorite that launched its highly popular brewery tour in 2017. Get a bird’s eye view of the brewing process from the catwalk of the ultra-modern facility, then unwind at the bar enjoying free samples from the incredible beer selection.
HERE – The calm, sheltered waters of Princess Alexandra Nature Reserve, located off the north coast of Providienciales, offer an incredible location for stand-up paddleboarding. The more than 6,000-acre coastal and marine reserve is home to the uninhabited, wetland island of Mangrove Cay, a haven for marine and bird wildlife. Shallow, scenic tidal channels are home to lemon and nurse snarks, small turtles, conch, stingrays and much more.
RIDE INTO THE SUNSET HERE – Exploring the shores of Long Bay Beach by horseback is an unforgettable experience for visitors to Turks & Caicos. Provo Ponies offers two rides a day along quiet dirt roads to the shallow waters off the Caicos Banks, where the horses love to frolic in the water (weather permitting). Group and private rides are available, but be sure to book well in advance as tours fill up quickly.
