TEE OFF HERE – Punta Mita Golf Club will host its Aimpoint Green Reading Clinic May 2nd, offering golf aficionados a chance to enhance their green reading skills using the method Adam Scott and Justin Rose incorporate on the PGA Tour. The creator of Aimpoint, Mark Sweeney, will be sharing the secrets of the pros with clinic participants. Participants, who are offered accommodations at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita or The St. Regis Punta Mita, will enjoy the three-hour clinic, 18 holes of golf, lunch and analysis with their stay.
GAME, SET, MATCH HERE – The Puerto Vallarta Open continues through May 5th, as professional tennis makes its return to the area for the second year. The 2018 inaugural ATP Challenger Tour event earned Tournament of the Year honors. This year’s event is being held at Parque Parota, featuring singles and doubles matches and players from Mexico, the U.S. and all over the world.
CATCH SOME WIND HERE – Bright sails will rise above the waters off the Pacific Coast for this year’s Riviera Nayarit Wind Festival, blowing in May 17th – 19th. Among the region’s best events of the year, the exhilarating competition draws the world’s top kite surfers to Bucerias, the Wind Capital of Riviera Nayarit. Three main events include a long distance race from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle to Bucerias, a freestyle competition and a big air contest. It’s an incredible spectacle to behold and worth the stroll up the beach from Nuevo Vallarta or drive from Puerto Vallarta.
SPIN YOUR WHEELS HERE – The bicycle event of the year returns with more adrenaline than ever. In its third year, Down Puerto Vallarta 2019 is an urban downhill event featuring some of the world’s most daring and skilled bikers who take over the city’s downtown streets on May 18th and 19th. An event for the whole family, the race heads from the mountains to the sea, with riders showcasing their best tricks and maximum speeds with the ocean as their backdrop.
OR HERE – Just up the coast, hundreds of cyclists will spin their wheels for this year’s Riviera Mountain Bike event hosted by Velo-Bike on May 25th. The ride will span from the beach at Litibú to the mountain at Higuera Blanca with cyclists 18 years and older welcome to join.
EAT HERE – The culinary event of the year, Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit’s Restaurant Week, kicks off May 15th, running through June 10th. Participating restaurants will offer innovative, locally inspired three-course menus for diners to enjoy. The event, which is now in its 14th year, welcomes locals and gourmet foodies from all over the world, many who plan their vacation around the festival. SAVOR HERE – If your travels bring you to the Los Cabos area, head to the GastroVino Baja Food & Wine Festival, held in Todos Santos from May 17th to 18th. Todos Santos, located on the Pacific Coast just north of Cabo San Lucas, is a melting pot of cultures and nationalities, surrounded by pristine beaches, abundant fishing and rich agricultural land. Hence, its vibrant and flavorful culinary scene. The three-day festival and charitable event recognizes the region’s inventive chefs and delicious Mexican wines.
GET YOUR CULTURE HERE – The San Jose del Cabo Art Walk, a popular weekly event that transforms the streets of San Jose into a festive street party and celebration of the arts, is nearly finished for the season. From November to June, the art walk is held every Thursday from 5pm – 9pm, drawing art lovers and tourists to the color-filled streets and main square to visit the historic town’s incredible art galleries, exhibitions and restaurants, many offering live music to go with the spirit of the evening
