The Agency’s December Hotlist

by | Dec 19, 2017

Settle in, get cozy and warm up with our final hotlist of the year, a roundup of properties and personalities that made headlines in December.

Billy Rose → Self-driving cars won’t just change the automotive industry. They’ll change everything, including where people choose to live, if commuting becomes a little less stressful. Weighing in on how autonomous cars may change the real estate industry, The Agency Co-Founder and President Billy Rose told Realtor.com, “This change will be like the change from horse and buggy to cars.” Billy also lent his expertise this month to Robb Report on the subject of all cash buyers and why cash may still be king at the highest end of the Los Angeles market.

Justin Fichelson → ‘Tis the season when experts in their fields look back on the year past and predict what may lie ahead. The Agency’s Justin Fichelson, star of Million Dollar Listing San Francisco, did just that for Observer, making his 2018 predictions for San Francisco and the nation. So is it still a good time to buy? “Absolutely,” he says adding, “long-term, real estate will only go up if you buy wisely in resilient markets connected to innovation-driven industries.”

900 Stradella Road, Bel Air →  What’s in a view? “You just can’t put a precise value on it,” The Agency’s David Parnes tells The Hollywood Reporter. He and James Harris, who co-listed the recently sold, $45 million contemporary estate, weighed in on how a view plays a role in assessing the value of a home, saying when a buyer walks in, emotion comes into play, “and there is a huge link between value and emotional provocation.”

74885 Fairway Drive, Palm Desert  → “This house is a perfect example of desert luxury lifestyle,” singer, songwriter and Devo co-founder Gerald Casale tells Palm Springs Life of his midcentury modern home designed in 1963 by Patten and Wild. Listed by The Agency’s Gregg Fletcher and Richard Bartholomew, the four-bedroom home is an entertainer’s paradise, now on the market for $1,495,000.

1448 Queens Way. Los Angeles → Speaking of entertaining, this Spanish contemporary with resort-like grounds, indoor-outdoor design, custom chef’s kitchen and theatre, was made for just that. RobbReport.com selected the 4-bedroom, gated masterpiece among its list of Spanish style homes “made to wow,” and Dwell.com featured the home, currently listed by The Agency’s Gloria Castellanos for $4,950,000.

2035 De Mille Drive, Los Angeles → The recent sale of singer-songwriter Natasha Bedingfield’s gated Los Feliz contemporary in much sought-after Laughlin Park made headlines in Los Angeles Times and Daily Mail. Represented by The Agency’s, Andrew Mortaza, Bryan Castaneda and Hassan Culler, the extensively remodeled home sold for $4.2 million.

1627 E. Valley Road, Montecito → The grand, Italian-style estate of late Philadelphia Flyers owner Ed Snider—now on the market for $45 million—recently appeared in the Toronto Star for its opulent, old-world elegance. “It’s one of the most amazing estates I’ve ever seen,” says The Agency Principal and Partner Santiago Arana, who co-lists the home with Co-Founder and CEO Mauricio Umansky. “Everything is just perfection,” Mauricio adds, from the expertly landscaped grounds to the masterfully designed, 21,345-square-foot living space.

115 Ocean Front Walk, Venice → Set along the Venice Beach boardwalk, the home of French filmmaker Francis Veber is now available to rent, featuring a rooftop deck and two beach-facing patios. The three-bedroom, loft-style home was a featured Hot Property in the Los Angeles Times, listed for $18,000 a month by The Agency’s Lindsay Guttman and Alexandria Brunkhorst and located within moments of the sand, surf, shops, and cafes of Venice Beach.
