As families, businesses, and individuals struggle to regain footing in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, and Tropical Storm Lidia, The Agency is offering its support to those affected in Texas, Florida, Mexico, The Caribbean and elsewhere. From a Hurricane Harvey drive at our anniversary party to our Los Cabos agents bringing water and supplies to victims of Tropical Storm Lidia and a company-wide fundraiser to benefit Turks and Caicos, our agents and staff are at the ready to offer our resources to those in need. For our clients looking for ways to reach out, we’ve compiled a list of organizations dedicated to helping save lives and provide comfort and care during this difficult time.*
Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund: After an outpouring of inquiries from citizens and companies seeking to aid in hurricane relief efforts, Houston mayor Sylvester Turner and County Judge Ed Emmett established the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. Housed at the Greater Houston Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, the fund will accept tax-deductible flood relief donations for victims recently affected by the floods.
UNICEF: More than 10.5 million children living in Caribbean countries, including Turks and Caicos, have been exposed to the devastation of Hurricane Irma. UNICEF pays special attention to young children and focuses on getting kids back to school in Irma’s wake.
The SPCA of Texas: With thousands of animals displaced from the storm, The SPCA of Texas needs help now more than ever to raise funds to help organize evacuations of pets and provide medical care and attention to animals in need.
The Texas Association of REALTORS® Relief Fund: The Texas Association of REALTORS® Relief Fund was set up to help people who have suffered losses due to natural disasters in Texas. 100% of each donation goes directly to the victims.
Waves for Water: This nonprofit has launched a fundraiser in the wake of Tropical Storm Lidia in an effort to help supply clean water to the many who need it in Baja California Sur. Funds raised will be put toward launching a clean water initiative in at-risk communities for the distribution of vital water filtration systems.
United Way of Greater Houston: United Way of Houston has launched the United Way Relief Fund to help meet storm-related needs and recovery in the Houston community. 100% of donations goes toward helping the community recover from Hurricane Harvey.
Volunteer Florida: In response to Hurricane Irma, Volunteer Florida is working around the clock to mobilize volunteers to staff the state’s shelters and other disaster relief organizations. Those interested in making a difference can register to volunteer with Volunteer Florida or make a donation to assist those impacted.
Airbnb: Property owners looking to help those displaced by the storms can open their homes and rentals to evacuees. So far, 92 hosts have opened their doors to evacuees across Houston and Atlanta thanks to Airbnb’s initiatives.
GlobalGiving’s Hurricane Irma Relief Fund: With a target goal of raising $2,000,000, the Hurricane Irma Relief Fund will help first responders meet survivor’s immediate needs for things like food, fuel, clean water and shelter. Once the immediate relief work is done, it will transition to supporting long-term recovery efforts.
