The Agency Agenda: What To Do + Where To Go This May

by | May 2, 2017

Our picks of places to go + things to do to make the most out of your May.

TRAVEL TO → Carmel-by-the-Sea, central Cali’s crown jewel, to enjoy the beach, art galleries, restaurants, specialty boutiques and nearby wine-tasting in Carmel Valley. Named by Travel + Leisure as one of the “World’s Best Cities for Romance,” enjoy stunning sunsets, intimate bed & breakfasts and gorgeously styled homes. Have a glass of wine on the patio of Mission Ranch—you might even bump into the Honorable Mayor, Clint Eastwood.

EAT HERE  → The Los Angeles Times’ new, citywide food festival, Food Bowl runs May 1 – 31. Celebrating L.A.’s dynamic and influential food scene while promoting social awareness about food waste and hunger, the Food Bowl features hundreds of events, including Night Market (May 10 – 14), with over 50 participating restaurants, food trucks, drinks and live entertainment.

HEAD TO → Venice Art Walk & Auctions on May 21 at Google’s L.A. HQ. An annual fundraiser for Venice Family Clinic, the art auction and street festival helps raise funds to provide primary health care to people in need. The celebration includes food, live music, and family-friendly activities.

GO SEE THIS → Jersey Boys at Ahmanson Theatre opens May 16. The award-winning music about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons comes to L.A. with its hit songs “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and more.

WORKOUT HERE → LazRfit debuts in Los Angeles, bringing together a cardio workout and the fun and competitive aspects of laser tag. You will perform dynamic movements through the park, similar to HIIT, ducking behind walls and jumping off ramps. Players torch over 200 calories in just 12 minutes!

DRINK HERE → The newly-opened DTLA watering hole and L.A.’s first-ever walk-up bar, Prank, is no joke. Featuring drinks made with terpenes, like the Mischief Maria, a delicious drink filled with lots of vegetable flavors, like heirloom tomato and carrots. Currently cleansing? Prank has a list of non-alcoholic drinks, including the Anti-inflammatory, which boosts your immune system (and of course gives your liver a much-needed break). Prank features live music on the weekends, and the best part is you can avoid the crowds and enter from any direction when the glass doors are open—simply walk up to the bar.

BUY MOM THIS → The Busy Bee Silk Eye Mask is perfect for any mom, especially the ones that have trouble getting a good night’s sleep. Let her close her eyes and shut out all the city lights (or a certain someone’s late-night TV addiction). Made of 100% silk, Hill House Home clearly informs unwanted bedroom guests that mom is busy…catching some z’s.
