Visions of fresh Utah powder are dancing in our heads as Park City Resort gets ready to mark the start of its second season as the nation’s largest mountain resort. Opening day for both the Park City Resort and Canyons Village bases is scheduled for Saturday, November 26. For us Angelenos, we can go from breakfast at home to lunch on the slopes, with the most accessible ski resort in the country a less than two-hour flight from LAX and a short, 35-minute drive from the Salt Lake City airport.
Last season marked Park City Resort’s first as the country’s largest ski and snowboard resort. Vail Resorts invested $50 million in capital improvements to connect Canyons Village and Park City Resort, creating one unified destination with 7,300 acres of skiable terrain. Add an average annual snowfall of 355”, 17 peaks and eight terrain parks, and it’s easy to see why Park City has taken its place among the top mountain destinations in the world.
Park City continues to impress and evolve with new offerings elevating the ski and snowboard experience each year. Debuting at Park City this year is EpicMix Time, an expansion of the award-winning ski and snowboard app, EpicMix, providing skiers and snowboarders with real-time lift wait times and GPS functionality that lets them see their location on the trail map. It also allows guests to track their on-mountain accomplishments, vertical feet, photos, and more.
Epic Pass has added new destinations worldwide for Park City enthusiasts to enjoy, offering unlimited access to Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood, Wilmot, Afton Alps, Mt. Brighton, Perisher (2017 access), and Arapahoe Basin. Pass holders also get five days at Whistler Blackcomb (with holiday restrictions) and access to 30 European resorts across Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland.
Additionally, as plans get underway to transform Park City’s Canyons Village into a top-tier international destination, two new residential offerings are designed to enhance the long-term vision by introducing a new brand of contemporary mountain luxury to the base area.
At the highest elevation in Canyons Village, Apex Residences will feature a collection of 63 exquisitely crafted, ski-in/ski-out residences capturing far-reaching mountain and village views. Three to five-bedroom designs include open, airy great rooms, designated ski rooms, family rooms, private master suites and multiple terraces. A stunning, slope side clubhouse will feature a heated outdoor pool, hot tub, spa and fitness center with Apex Residences offering turnkey residential and concierge services as a Vail Resorts managed property.
Situated along the 11th fairway of the new Canyons Golf Course, steps from the Frostwood Gondola, Viridian will feature a collection of 21 contemporary one to four-bedroom residences capturing sweeping golf course and mountain views. Private, year-round amenities include a heated outdoor pool and spa, club room and putting green.
