Swiss watchmaker Hublot revealed a cutting-edge skeleton watch, the Big Bang Unico Sapphire, cut straight from blocks of sapphire crystal and entirely see-through. Second only to diamonds in hardness, sapphire is nearly as scratch-resistant and equally as elegant.
Developed and manufactured in-house, this 45mm-diameter, automatic flyback chronograph is primarily hand-assembled from over 300 individual components. The only opaque pieces are the screws, crown, and deployment buckle, which are crafted from titanium, and a translucent silicone strap. With 72 hours of reserve power and waterproof to an estimated 100 meters, this lightweight timepiece is a highly wearable luxury. The Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire is a limited-edition of 500 pieces and priced at $57,900.
Hublot continues to stay ahead of the game, consistently unveiling timelessly sophisticated wristwatches ahead of BaselWorld. Last year the company revealed the world’s only scratch-resistant gold watch, the Big Bang Unico Full Magic Gold. This year, following the Sapphire pre-release, it also launched the Big Bang Unico Sapphire All Black in celebration of the10th anniversary of its All Black concept.
