Superyacht owners will soon have a place to dock their vessels within the United States. Set to be fully completed in 2018, Miami’s superyacht-only marina opened in December.
The Deep Harbour at Island Gardens is the first component to open at the luxury development on Biscayne Bay’s Watson Island, between downtown and Miami Beach.
The new marina, which shares deep waters with the cruise ships that dock at the Port of Miami, will feature 5,000 of linear capacity to accommodate an average of fifty 550-foot yachts.
Amenities will include in-slip fueling, repairs and customs and immigration clearance, along with a lounge and restaurant. “Think of it like the private-jet terminal,” says Mehmet Bayraktar, the developer.
The complex has been in the works for more than a decade, and when fully completed, it will have two to-be-announced luxury hotels with residences, fine dining and luxury shopping.
