The LA Art Show promised a new focus for its 21st edition to mirror the rise of Los Angeles as a vanguard on the global modern art scene. Emerging as one of the world’s largest and longest running art events, the show has refined its curatorial vision for 2016 to present galleries that showcase premier Modern and Contemporary work. The Agency is proud to be once again the exclusive sponsor of the show’s VIP Lounge, which was designed by our own Paul Lester, with art curated by the Director of Art All Ways, Hoojung Lee, to enrich the modern experience and function as a gathering place for the mingling of artists, gallerists, collectors and art enthusiasts.
The VIP Lounge bustled with excitement during the show’s Opening Night Premiere Party, a star-studded affair hosted by Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway and husband Adam Shulman in benefit of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The lounge served as a vibrant and luxurious social epicenter for guests, featuring a magnificent collection of contemporary art as well as furnishings from Rapport International Furniture. A fitting partner for such an event, Rapport has been an industry leader in Southern California for 68 years, chosen as the exclusive distributor of the absolute “pinnacles” in luxury furnishings by the world’s most prestigious contemporary brands.
The lounge is an extension of The Agency’s belief that great architecture and design is functional art. We take pride in helping our clients acquire a home, which we believe is the architectural expression of a person’s identity, with true art being an extension of something deeply personal.
Paul, a long-time art enthusiast who is actively involved in the L.A. art community, is moderating a panel on that very topic, “The Agency And Art” at 1pm on Sunday. The discussion will focus on the curation of the luxury home and working with clients to create collections and envision the home as living art.
The LA Art Show runs through Sunday, January 31st at the Los Angeles Convention Center featuring more than 120 galleries representing 22 countries. Located next door, the Los Angeles Fine Art Show exhibits works of Historic and Traditional Contemporary Art.
