Paul Lester and The Agency were honored to partner with the Christopher Isherwood Foundation to celebrate the lives and achievements of Christopher Isherwood (1904-1986) and Don Bachardy and the role they played in defining Southern California as a center of artistic expression and personal freedom.
A Single Man, authored by Isherwood, was among the first and most influential literary novels about a gay man. In 2009, director Tom Ford, brilliantly adapted it into a film.
An artist, Bachardy has received accolades worldwide for his portraits of major creative cultural and political figures over the past 60 years, including Jack Nicholson, Elton John, Tilda Swindon, Jane Fonda and more.
“It was a pleasure to be involved in an event that celebrates the impact of Chris and Don,” said Paul Lester of The Agency. “It’s our hope that their legacies continue to make an impact through the ongoing preservation and study of their work.”
The celebration on November 14 entitled “An Evening with Chris and Don,” included a special presentation by Guido Santi and Tina Mascara, featuring unreleased footage from An Evening with Chris and Don: A Love Story, along with readings from The Animals: Love Letters Between Christopher Isherwood and Don Bachardy.
