Once full of furniture stores, Miami’s Design District is heating up into a glamourous international luxury shopping destination. Dozen of new buildings are in the works, many built by established and emerging architects, such as Zaha Hadid and Sou Fugimoto.
The Design District’s central Palm Court will be home to all the fine jewelry houses in the nation, the first floor already being called “watch row,” as it has four luxury watch stores. Most stores are still under construction, but by the end of 2016 developers plan to have about 120 high-end tenants alongside art galleries, restaurants, and boutique hotels.
Retailers believe that the Design District is the future of Miami and its cutting-edge fashion scene, it will definitely be the coolest new neighborhood to check out.
