The 17th annual Fall Harvest Festival at the Underwood Family Farms, in Moorpark, is the place to be for pumpkin season. Weekend admission includes an awesome corn maze, wagon rides, live music, the sprawling pumpkin patch and even pedal tractors. Festival hours are 9am to 6pm.
West Hollywood’s go-to pumpkin patch is swarming with children and celebrities in October. This is upscaled pumpkining; there’s valet parking, paparazzi (often), and nearby Beverly Hills lunch spots to enjoy after picking that perfect jackolantern-to-be. You’ll enjoy rows of excellent pumpkins, a huge rocking horse, petting zoo, straw maze, super-slide and face painting.
Tapia Brothers Farm’s massive corn maze brings many visitors to Encino over the weekend. As an added drawn, their pumpkin patch offers a wonderful selection along with fresh treats (kettle corn anyone?) from their fresh farmers’ market.
When it comes to Halloween, Pierce College has family activities for all ages. After cruising their rows of farm-grown pumpkins for the perfect find, enjoy bumper boats, slides, a rock wall, gemstone mining and even bungee jumping. There’s usually good live music to accompany the festivities, too.
This Sherman Oaks favorite features a friendly llama and their signature petting zoo. That – and their excellent pumpkin patch, of course – are the main attractions.
On the East Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach, Pa’s is more or less a pumpkin-themed county fair. In addition to their pumpkin patch, make the most of their booth games, carnival rides and sugary treats. Rides include harvest-themed water bumper cars, giant slides, haunted houses and much more.
In Saugus, CA, The Lombardi Ranch has been selling pumpkins since 1968. More than 8,000 school children visit annually, and on the weekend, families flock to the ranch to get their fill of pumpkins, wagon rides and fall-themed tasty treats.
This year Forneris Farms is celebrating 100 years of harvest. As part of the celebrations, you can enjoy a four-acre cornfield maze, live music, a guided pumpkin tour, kids’ shows, tractor rides, and a massive selection of pumpkins.
An Orange County tradition, Tanaka Farms is a great place to pick your pumpkin right off the vine. You can also enjoy a wagon ride tour around the scenic 30-acre farm, getting to taste vegetables en route.
Okay, so it’s not exactly LA, but Peltzer Farms up in the beautiful wine country of Temecula draws families every year to its famous pumpkin patches. It’s a fully decked-out Halloween destination with pony rides, train rides, pig races, a petting zoo, corn maze, live music and much more. Plus, in addition to your pumpkins, you can take home all kinds of cool squash and gourds.
