Kicking off this week for the ninth year in a row is JazzPOP, the free summer concert series hosted by The Hammer Museum. A great way for you to switch up your Thursday night routine, this celebratory evening of sound and song gives Angelenos the opportunity to enjoy live music under the stars and also experience the museum in a fresh, interactive way.
The first to light up the stage inside the museum’s courtyard will be Beep—an electro-jazz trio of keyboardist Michael Coleman, bassist Nate Brenner, and drummer Sam Ospovat—who hails from the Bay Area. The next two performances will include the Sam Boshnack Quintet, led by trumpeter and bandleader Samantha Boshnack from Seattle, followed by The Jeff Gauthier Goatette, led by violinist Jeff Gauthier, on Thursday the 14th and Thursday the 21st, respectively.
Featuring original music grounded in indie rock, chamber music, and jazz improvisation, JazzPOP is a no-hassle concert that shows off the city’s vibrant art scene. All performances begin at 8 p.m. and parking is available under the museum for a flat rate of $3 after 6p.m.
