Actress and Hollywood film star Faye Dunaway has just put her historic 1925 duplex on the market, and it’s represented by The Agency.
After living in the West Hollywood home for 15 years, the award-winning “Chinatown” star (you can see her Oscars and Emmys on the mantle in listing photos) has decided to move into a smaller home. She recently completed a remodel and listed the home with Farrah Aldjufrie and Eduardo Umansky at The Agency.
The 4-bedroom, 3-bath house is on a gorgeous treed lot on N. Spaulding Avenue and features a range of elegant yet intimate spaces. “An arched passageway opens to the large grassy front yard of the first unit,” offers the listing description. “Once inside the private retreat, a formal entryway greets you into the light and bright home that features a formal dining room with French doors leading out to a romantic balcony.”
The duplex is tucked behind hedges and a wall for complete privacy, and sits on a lot of some 5,700 square feet, which includes a shared courtyard. Dunaway paid just $315,000 for the home when she bought it in 1998. Now it’s on the market for an asking price of $1.75 million. The larger half was her primary residence, while the smaller 2-bedroom, 1-bath unit went unoccupied. A recent open house attracted an array of Dunaway fans, according to listing agent Farrah Aldjufrie.
The larger unit alone is staged with memorabilia worth approximately $260,000. This includes an old photograph that Dunaway’s ex-husband took of her poolside at the Beverly Hills Hotel, with the Oscar she won for her “Network” role in 1977. The memorabilia can be negotiated as part of the property sale, or it can be purchased separately.
Dunaway wants “to find a buyer who would hopefully appreciate the Hollywood history and want to own a piece of her life,” Aldjufrie told Zillow in a recent interview.
As for the remodel, it was driven by Dunaway’s personal vision for the home. She spruced it up with many tasteful art deco details, preserving the original crown moldings and arched windows. At the same time, Dunaway completely modernized the home with new, contemporary light fixtures, hi-end amenities throughout, and a modern tile backsplash in the kitchen.
