Our newest listing in Santa Barbara, a modern masterpiece designed by noted Los Angeles architect Barbara Bestor, is the featured home in the latest “Private Properties” column of the Wall Street Journal.
Designed to be the ultimate retreat, the rustic modern home at 3660 Toro Canyon Road is set on 160 acres of unspoiled wilderness and offers unparalleled views of ocean, islands and mountains. As the WSJ notes:
The roughly 3,500-square-foot main house has three bedrooms, 2 ½ bathrooms, a media room and a yoga room. A nearly 800-square-foot guesthouse has one bedroom, one bathroom and a “sleeping nook” with built-in beds. There is also an infinity-edge swimming pool and a cabana with a bathroom and outdoor shower.
The property is the Santa Barbara getaway home for film producer John Lesher, head of Le Grisbi Productions, and his wife, Christina Liao. The WSJ explains that the couple had purchased the property because they wanted Bestor, a longtime friend, to design a weekend retreat for them. Bestor is best known for both residential and commercial/retail projects for L.A.’s creative community. She most recently designed the headquarters of music-electronics company Beats Electronics in Culver City.
