This Father’s Day lands on Sunday, June 15th, and we found a great reason to break from the traditional holiday barbeque. Centered around dad’s favorite beverages, coffee and beer, this CollaBREWtive Brunch pairs local craft breweries with local craft roasters who then create a special one-off beer that’s spiked with our favorite caffeinated bean, like a “Chip Shot Coffee Porter” made from Smog City Brewing Co. with organic Groundwork coffee, orange peel, cinnamon sticks, and vanilla beans.
In addition, the event, which takes place the day before Father’s Day at Tiato in Santa Monica, is inviting 12 talented Los Angeles chefs to carry out all the laborious work in the kitchen. They’ll be churning out dishes like silver dollar beer pancakes studded with bacon, maple-glazed smoked heritage pork sausage, and sunny fried quail egg (Ernesto Uchimura, Plan Check). Or perhaps you’ll try Chef Daniel Mattern & Chef Roxana Jullapat’s (Cooks County) white cheddar biscuit sandwich with sage-chicken sausage and melted cheese. And don’t worry about savoring that last bite—you’re welcome to return for seconds.
Still to come are as-yet-unannounced dishes from Zoe Nathan Loeb (Huckleberry, Milo & Olive), Philip Pretty (Fundamental LA), Jimmy Shaw (Loteria Grill), and Daly Thompson (Tiato). On the sippin’ side, you can look forward to inventive collaborations between El Segundo Brewing Co. and LAMILL Coffee, Eagle Rock Brewery and Portola Coffee Lab, Firestone Walker Brewing Co. and Intelligentsia, and much more.
