Those are the first words spoken in the nearly 9 minute video released by Concierge Auctions, the firm who will be holding a live auction to sell the NBA legend’s Highland Park, Chicago residence of 19 years. Officially valued at $29 million, the fully furnished 54,000-square-foot-estate will sell to the highest bidder come November 22nd, but not before offering anyone who’s curious a never-before-seen glimpse into the famous home.
By interlaying commentary with real footage from Jordan’s colorful basketball career, the visual tour aims to convey why owning this home is like owning a piece of basketball legacy.
One can imagine stepping onto the Jordan ™ indoor basketball court and standing right where he once perfected his jump shot and prepared for the season ahead. For years, a group of Jordan’s teammates would join him in the weight room located in the lower level of the house and practice on his court, eventually earning the nickname “the breakfast club”—in part because a personal chef was always present to prepare breakfast for the players.
Outfitted with a ventilated cigar room, PGA-grade putting green, tennis court, an infinity pool that surrounds a tiny island, and several hangout areas, the amenities are nothing short of what you would expect from an athlete who led his Chicago Bulls team to win six titles.
Jordan’s personal, sometimes “quirky” style, has also left its mark among the 9 bedroom, 19 bathroom estate. Take, for instance, his dining room table, designed to portray the city of Baghdad, or the striking pair of doors welcoming one into another wing of the house, which are the original doors that greeted patrons entering the Playboy Mansion in Chicago up until 1974.
