Luxury Supercar Maker Lamborghini Turns 50

by | Nov 4, 2013

This past Sunday, Scott Pelley of CBS 60 Minutes gave viewers a fascinating inside look at the past, present and future of Italian super sportscar maker Lamborghini, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Like a few of our agents earlier this year, Pelley had the breathtaking pleasure to take a spin in their current flagship car, the 700-horsepower V12 Aventador.

The Agency Partners with Lamborghini: For the unveiling of the stunning compound at 1232 Sunset Plaza, The Agency teamed with Lamborghini to showcase five of its vehicles throughout the spacious motor court.

“Lamborghini never was a car company; it’s a builder of fantasies,” Pelley notes as he soars across the Italian countryside in the Aventador on his way to Sant’Agata Bolognese, the small village where Ferruccio Lamborghini started the company in 1963. The town is home to the sleek, state-of-the-art production facility where Lamborghinis are custom built for clientele around the world.

Among a few of the interesting items revealed in Pelley’s report are: Only 11 Lamborghinis are built per day, each purchased a year in advance; designers draw their inspiration from the contours of insects and fighter jets; and generally only men work on the exterior of cars while women assemble the interiors.
