The Agency Guide To Playa Vista

Hip, urban, contemporary, family friendly, pet friendly, walkable, unique – these are all words I’ve heard used to describe my amazing neighborhood, the Westside community of Playa Vista.

Located between Marina del Rey, Westchester, Culver City and Playa del Rey, Playa Vista is one of the newest fully-planned communities in Southern California. With over 3,000 existing homes and hundreds more on the horizon, housing is just the beginning of what this amazing community has to offer.

As a planned green community, the vision for Playa Vista was to create a live work community, with all of the basic amenities people desire, in a highly walkable environment. There is a mix of lofts, condominiums, townhouses, apartments and single-family residences. There are contemporary options like the Mondrian style homes and the even larger ICON homes, not to mention the office and commercial space that is attracting tech giants and being dubbed “Silicon Beach.”

There are also several fantastic dining options, with more on the way. You can get your caffeine recharge at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, your groceries at Yummy.com, satisfy your sweet tooth at Pinkberry, or grab lunch or dinner at Sweet Fish or Piknic. Both restaurants offer indoor and outdoor dining to take full advantage of the California weather.

This active lifestyle community also offers numerous parks, tennis courts, basketball courts, tot lots and dog parks, as well as a full recreation center for community members, The Center Pointe Club. For those who like alternative fitness options, there is Yoga Vista and Playa Pilates – or you can always hop on the bike trail and ride out to the beach, which we have done dozens of times.

Summer offers an array of free activities and festivities. There are concerts and movies in Concert Park and Central Park, a popular attraction with good music, beautiful weather and the all too popular food trucks that will surround the parks. Also unique to the summer months is the Playa Vista beach shuttle. These neighborhood buses have several stops in Playa Vista and take residents and non-residents alike into Marina del Rey and to the Venice boardwalk.

With amazing parental involvement, its partnership with Loyola Marymount University, and a celebrated math and science based curriculum, it’s no wonder the school has already achieved outstanding API scores. Even the construction of the school is LEED Certified Platinum. And the best part, is you can walk there from any part of the neighborhood.

The next phase of community development will offer dozens more housing options, parks and even an outdoor shopping/dining experience similar to the Grove or Third Street Promenade. This area, currently under construction, will feature several chef-driven restaurants, a movie theatre, Wholefoods and more. With all that’s there and everything to come, Playa Vista will surely remain one of the most popular destinations on the Westside.
