READ THIS → L.A. Son: My Life, My City, My Food by our favorite tattooed chef, Roy Choi. Accredited as L.A.’s street-food king, Roy serves up his part-memoir, part-cookbook masterpiece just in time for us to compliment the cooler fall weather with a steamy bowl of Korean braised-short-rib stew. Officially released on November 5.
VISIT WESTWOOD → Arts ReSTORE LA: Westwood will create an artisanal pop-up village surrounding previously empty storefronts all month long. Curated by The Hammer Museum, the initiative hopes to introduce locally produced goods, crafts, furniture, and apparel—as well as accompanying events and workshops—as a way of showing the community a snapshot of its vibrant and profitable future. Visit anytime between November 1 and 24.
WATCH → The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Thor: The Dark World, two Hollywood sequels you’ll want to see on the silver screen. The Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence returns as the fierce Katniss Everdeen (November 22) while Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman pair up to—you guessed it—save the world from danger (November 8).
GO HERE → Breeders’ Cup held at Santa Anita on November 1 and 2. The thoroughbreds won’t be the only one’s getting judged at the track…stop by the Fascinator and Fedora tent, snap a photo, and you could take home $10,000. Ladies and gents will be scored on headwear, creativity, presentation, attitude, and overall appearance—may the best-dressed win!
