An envy-worthy group of agents from The Agency, along with several guests, were recently treated to the ultimate day of luxury and adrenaline as we boarded a helicopter in Los Angeles and jetted off to the desert for an exclusive preview of Lamborghini’s North American Super Trofeo Series and the opportunity to take a seat in a 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo — while said seat was traveling at speeds reaching 200 mph.

The destination was the Thermal Auto Club, the developing members only motorsports club located 25 miles from Palm Springs, and making the journey with me were The Agency’s Billy Rose, Blair Chang and Brendan Fitzpatrick, along with nine special guests, including philanthropist Jacob Freed (founder of the Jacob Freed Foundation) and actress Kate Del Castillo, who also happened to be an experienced driver.

We were treated to the world-class amenities of the Thermal Auto Club and given a taste of the exclusive experience that will be available to members of the premier private motorsports facility. After a delicious breakfast enjoyed in the cool shade of the Coachella Valley palm trees, it was off to the track to experience a motorsports dream inside one of the fastest cars ever made. In between our time on the track, we enjoyed the Lamborghini Mobile Hospitality Suite and its built-in observation deck from which we could watch the action unfold on the track.

Aside from being an exquisite example of design, machinery and raw power, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo is the centerpiece of the world’s fastest one-make race series, the Super Trofeo Series, which Lamborghini is bringing to the USA and Canada for the 2013-2014 season. Races in the series will be held alongside Grand-AM, American Le Mans Series and IndyCar events on popular raceways like the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and the Kansas Speedway. During the season, the Super Trofeo drivers will compete for more than just fame, points and wins, as the overall winners will be invited to participate in the Super Trofeo World Final in Vallelunga, Italy, where they will take on the winners from the European and Asian series.

The track at the Thermal Auto Club itself is comprised of three independent courses with the flexibility to run nineteen unique configurations. The 4.5 miles of track, complete with a breathtaking 2,500 foot main straightaway, was designed by acclaimed international race track designer, Alan Wilson. Eventually, The Thermal Club will offer a fully amenitized clubhouse & Motorsports Village designed with every generation in mind and an array of activities for the entire family to enjoy.
