If you still have your training wheels when it comes to planning a family outing in Los Angeles, let us lead you down a path of discovery.
In search of activities that inspire the kid as well as the kid at heart—without breaking the bank—we took our cues from Joy Deangdeelert Cho of the popular LA-based lifestyle blog Oh Joy!. Joy shares her top family-friendly destinations in Los Angeles where she currently lives with her husband and 2 year-old daughter, Lucy.
Switch up playtime with a visit to the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round or plan a Sunday afternoon at LACMA where families can tour for free. The Hollywood Farmer’s Market held each Sunday is a great way to load up on food for the week, enjoy the fresh air, and keep the kiddos occupied with sampling fruit. Joy and her family love to go to On the Lot, a weekly Monday night street food-for-all featuring crowd favorites like CoolHaus and The Grilled Cheese Truck in Los Feliz, yet they also like the thrill of finding food trucks on the go when the mood strikes.
Our very own Michelle Schwartz regularly interviews moms and dads living in and around Los Angeles about their respective neighborhoods and how to keep the young and restless active. She most recently spoke with Carin McGrath, mother of twins and married to Sugar Ray frontman and TV personality Mark McGrath, about raising kids in Studio City, and she revealed resourceful kid-friendly areas including parks, stores, and restaurants that welcome finger food.
