The latest luxury vehicle from Detroit is coming to town. Shinola, the Detroit-based bike company, is hosting a special Los Angeles “Bike Tour” tomorrow, September 5, so you can demo the American-made steel frame and leather handlebars yourself. From 3-6pm, they invite you to take one (or all) of their bicycles for a spin during two simultaneous events being held at Golden Saddle Cyclery and Mohawk General Store.
As steadfast believers that there is only one way to properly build a bicycle, Shinola bikes are made one at a time, by hand, with rigorous attention to detail in their Wisconsin production facility and Detroit assembly workshop.
Among the stylish models to swoon over at the event is “The Bixby” ($1,950.00 for the 3-speed model)—included as picks in both Outside Magazine and Bicycling Magazine’s Editors’ Choice this year—along with big brother “The Runwell” and frames designed especially for lady riders. Have a story to tell? As part of their visit to the West Coast, Shinola representatives will be recording great American stories shared by anyone who attends.
Already on our list of places to shop, Mohawk General Store—recently featured in Vogue Magazine’s stylish guide to L.A.—boasts popular labels and unique finds under a nature-loving, hipster aesthetic.
