A recent study of 23,000 one-bedroom apartments across Los Angeles reveals that renters have to pay a pretty penny to live here. The study, presented by RadPad, in conjunction with RentMetrics.com, breaks down the average rental rates for a one-bedroom in more than 20 cities across the greater Los Angeles area, and finds that prices have risen 10-percent.
As The Huffington Post notes, “Not only are there more renters crowding the water for a decent and affordable place, but prices seem to be creeping higher and higher.”
At the top of the priciest rent list is Brentwood, where renters pay an average of $2,540/month for a one-bedroom. Nearly as high is rent in Westwood ($2,485/month), home to UCLA and located between the high-end luxury markets of the Wilshire Corridor and Beverly Hills/Bel Air. City dwellers in Downtown Los Angeles are paying, on average, nearly $2,000/month.
In the beach cities north of LAX, like Santa Monica ($2,430/month) and Marina del Rey ($2,445/month), renters are paying some of the highest rates in the city. South of LAX, in Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach, renters can expect to pay around $2,000/month for a one-bedroom home.
