Just as the last Spring ‘14 show was wrapping up at New York Fashion Week so, too, was an exclusive night of fashion taking place at Helmut Lang’s Los Angeles flagship store on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood. On Thursday, September 12, friends, clients, and employees of The Agency gathered at the brand’s storefront to shop the Fall 2013 Collection and enjoy a special 20% discount off all purchases.
The location’s 1,125-square-foot space gleams with floor-to-16-foot-high ceiling glass windows, concrete floors and exposed beams that do well to compliment the designer’s minimalist and modern aesthetic—a color palette of white, grey, and black guiding the walls and accents of the interior. Guests would take a moment from browsing to sip champagne on the oversize brown leather couches and peruse the collection’s lookbook, not a far cry from the feeling of being completely at ease in the comfort of one’s home.
True to Helmut Lang’s signature draped cuts, the outfits rotating in and out of the dressing room displayed a silhouette that was basic yet elegant.
A play on symmetry was also incorporated into many of the designs, including a stunning hooded leather jacket (Hooded Leather Zip Jacket; $995.00) featuring an asymmetric front zip and shiny lambskin. Wearing a classic black tee with slim, grey corduroy pants could transition beautifully into a night out on the town when finished with a pair of their stilettos (Lucent Fur Stiletto; $450) embellished with calf-hair.
