Glow Santa Monica Lights Up The Night This Saturday

by | Sep 27, 2013

Glow Santa Monica, the all-night cultural experience featuring an illuminated and glowing array of artist exhibits, will take over the city’s iconic pier and beach Saturday night until the wee hours of the morning Sunday.

More than 150,000 visitors are expected to attend what some have billed as “Burning Man on the Beach,” with 100 artists re-imagining Santa Monica Beach as a playground for thoughtful and participatory artworks. A total of 15 site-specific, interactive art installations will engage and entertain attendees from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Happenings will include dance performances, puppet shows, music concerts, and more.

If you‘re attending, find helpful tidbits for the night, including a map, here.

Santa Monica Patch also provides helpful information for getting to the event, including information about free bike valets, which will be located in three locations close to the event: Palisades Park, Hot Dog on a Stick (south of the pier), and a parking lot located near Crescent bay park. If you plan on driving or taking a bus, check Glow’s website to figure out how, and for street closures.

Finally, KCRW has created a GlowSoundscape, a downloadable audio guide to the event hosted by KCRW DJs. Download at kcrw.com/glow or directly to a mobile device at kcrw.com/glowmobile.
