The fifth annual Los Angeles Beer Week returns to a bar near you this Thursday, September 19, and if you’re wondering what’s on tap, you’ve come to the right place. Aside from ticketed events, plenty of establishments—from Abigaile in Hermosa Beach to Turning Fork Gastropub in Studio City—are hosting ‘tap-takeovers’ and enticing deals to celebrate why we love local, small batch beer.
To start Beer Week on the right foot, trade in tokens for suds at the Stone Brewing Kick-Off party hosted by Verdugo Bar in Highland Park on Thursday, September 19 at 6 p.m. Wash your food truck dinner down with a commemorative glass of Stone Imperial Russian Stout or Double Bastard Ale.
If your idea of the perfect beer pairing involves ice cream, join them the following evening out on the patio where Peddler’s Creamery will assist you in making the perfect root beer float. The recently-opened Spitz in Los Feliz will be featuring limited edition “end of summer” beers from the best local breweries all week long, and for those hard cider fans out there, West Hollywood’s The Surly Goat will be pouring Wandering Aengus Ciderworks cider on September 21 from 7:00p.m. until 2:00a.m.
Since half the fun of a beer festival is the opportunity to try as many varieties as possible, we recommend checking out the unlimited sampling at the Opening Gala event held in LA’s famous Union Station. Choose from over 50 breweries set within the iconic art deco ticketing hall on Sunday, September 22; tickets are limited.
Also on our radar is the Musical Pub Crawl through Echo Park on Tuesday, September 24 from 7:00p.m. until 2:00a.m. Stroll the streets and stop at your favorites (El Prado Bar, Sunset Beer Company, to name a few) for special discounts and live music; full details and downloadable passport are now available.
