Our picks of things to do and places to go to make the best of your September.
SHOP HERE → Just One Eye, the Hollywood boutique that Vogue Magazine just compared to global retail destinations Colette in Paris and Dover Street Market in London. Explore two floors of this “stylish prism”—formerly the headquarters of Howard Hughes—to discover luxury labels like The Row and Rodarte as well as Anthony Vaccarello, a Parisian designer brand new to the L.A. market. And while you’re already out and about shopping, STOP BY → Hermes in Beverly Hills, which will be celebrating its reopening on September 4th by offering several limited edition items.
CELEBRATE → Walt Disney Concert Hall’s 10th Anniversary by attending any one of their inspiring programs to launch the 2013/2014 season. Kicking off the festivities is the Opening Night Gala Concert on Monday, September 30th, in which four artists—Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gustavo Dudamel, Yo-Yo Ma, and Netia Jones—will help tell the story of our most beloved concert hall. For more info, including where you can enjoy free neighborhood concerts, visit their calendar of events.
WATCH HERE → 33 Taps on the corner of Hollywood and Vine, just in time for football season. This freshly-opened, 205-seat spot falls somewhere in between a gastropub and a dive bar, but all you’ll really care about is the over 40 HD TV’s broadcasting all professional and collegiate sporting events in addition to (you guessed it) 33 draft lines of beer. 6263 Hollywood Blvd.; open daily from 11:30 a.m. – 2 a.m.
GO HERE → FoodGPS’s second annual Fried Chicken Festival on September 15 from 4-7 p.m. Held in Downtown’s Arts/Industrial District, star chefs like David LeFevre (Fishing with Dynamite), Jason Neroni (Superba Snack Bar), Eduardo Ruiz (Corazon y Miel), and Ricardo Zarate (Paiche) will be on site serving you their favorite renditions of the fried food.
In addition to chicken, enjoy beer by Firestone Walker, ice cream from McConnell’s, and pastries from Sugarbloom Bakery. Located in Lot 613; for tickets, visit their website.
LISTEN → Live storytelling at The Moth. Called “New York’s hottest and hippest literary ticket” by The Wall Street Journal, this popular public-radio program is finally migrating out West this September, bringing to light real stories told by people from all walks of life. Catch a mainstage show in L.A. (like Zanzibar in Santa Monica on the 3rd and Los Globos on the 17th) or slams in Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco. Doors typically open at 7:00 with stories beginning at 7:30; a limited number of $16 presale tickets will be available one week before the event; $8 tickets at the door.

WALK, RUN, OR BIKE → The Lake Hollywood Reservoir Trail’s recently restored 3.4-mile loop.
Previously wiped out by landslides in 2005, the western section of the trail has reopened to reveal refreshing views across serene Lake Hollywood Reservoir and an all-new perspective of the iconic Hollywood Sign. Sunrise to 6p.m.; gates at Wonder View Dr. and Tahoe Dr.; park on Lake Hollywood Drive.
