In this day in age, everyone thinks they’re a foodie. However, if you truly want to stand out with your knowledge of one of the most amazing and well kept secrets in Los Angeles, listen up. From April to September, from 5 until 9 PM, in the parking lot of the lux Yamashiro Restaurant atop the Hollywood Hills, you can experience a once in a lifetime (or at least every Thursday) farmers market.
The views are second to none, and the weather is usually perfect during the summer months for an outdoor stroll through the various food and goods shops. Perhaps the most exciting part of this farmers market is that they encourage you to bring your own wine to enjoy, whilst dining and looking out over the Hollywood Hills.
Fresh-squeezed juices, braised short-rib tacos, organic chicken, and a multitude of amazing scents present themselves as you wind your way through the pop up tents and shops. The Yamashiro Grill Stand often stands out as the most delicious food stall at the market. Their philosophy of 5 star quality and perfect ambiance at a street market price has had an overwhelmingly positive response. It is one of the few places in town that has the coveted 4 ½ star rating on Yelp, a very hard feat to accomplish.
If at 9 PM, when the market closes, you still feel like having a good time, step into the Yamashiro Restaurant to enjoy more drinks and food, or head toward the Pagoda Lounge, which serves as the restaurant’s nightclub. The farmers market, along with chef Brock Kleweno, formerly of Boa Steakhouse, have made Yamashiro a trendy and delicious location to enjoy a Thursday night.
