Once considered the realm of small time investors, the single-family home market has quickly gained the attention of large Wall Street firms, with many of the world’s leading real estate investment groups pouring billions of dollars into these properties.
According to a report from Arixa Capital, private-equity firm Blackstone is investing in single-family homes in the U.S. at a rate of tens of millions of dollars per week. Los Angeles-based investment firm Colony Capital is spending $250 million each month, reports The New York Times, and the “Sage of Omaha” himself, Warren Buffet, has said that if he could buy a couple hundred thousand single-family homes right now, he would.
Mauricio Umansky, CEO and co-founder of The Agency, will speak about this evolution in real estate at the Single Family Takes Center Stage: A Residential Real Estate Roundtable Discussion, on July 10, with The Agency President and co-founder Billy Rose serving as Moderator.
The informative discussion, which will take place at Korn Hall at The UCLA Anderson School of Management, starts at 6pm and is being presented by Arixa Capital and the UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate.
Umansky, along with fellow panelists Greg S. Hebner (Community Rebuild Partners, LLC), Kristoffer Winters (The Kristoffer Winters Company), Jan B. Brzeski (Arixa Capital Advisors, LLC) and Ramin Kolahi (Lighthouse Investments), will candidly discuss how investors, both big and small, are making money on single family home investments in today’s market.
