Los Angeles Athletic Club Raises The Bar With Renovation

by | Mar 5, 2013

Guests of the Los Angeles Athletic Club (LAAC) can expect more than just a fresh coat of paint this season as its multi-million dollar renovation of 80,000 feet of workout and social spaces nears completion. The L.A. institution’s re-opening is set for late April.
Architect Tracy Beckmann used mahogany and marble to create swanky new dining and lounge spaces in the third floor restaurant, Invention, and bar, Famous Players.
The posh LAAC, which has offered Angelenos both a premium exercise facility and a full-service hotel on the corner of 7th and Olive since 1912, continues to bring a sense of lifestyle to the gym—the kind of place where you can shine your shoes or unwind with a drink in the club room after leaving it all out on the squash court or swimming pool.
California’s cocktail culture will be pleased to know that Marcos Tello and Aiden Demarest of Liquid Assets are heading the new bar program which we hear involves a secret passageway to a secret R&D bar for training bartenders and testing new drinks. Not a member yet?
