In 1955, Laurance Rockefeller commissioned his personal friend, Robert Trent Jones, Sr., to create a private golf experience at Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico that would be the Caribbean’s finest. Eighteen holes ultimately grew to four championship golf courses, still considered among the top 25 of Jones’ illustrious career.
Over the past 50 years, the resort’s four spectacular courses have hosted PGA tournaments, celebrities, world leaders and iconic players – including local Chi Chi Rodríguez, the Club’s former golf pro. Today, Dorado Beach is still one of the most sought-after golf destinations in the world and the only venue in the Caribbean offering 72 championship holes. The legacy continues with the glorious restoration of the prestigious East Course by the creator’s son, Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
With its reopening in the fall of 2011, the East Course has wowed press and players alike with a captivating golf experience that plays from the majestic ocean through magnificent trees.
