A brisk high-end real estate market helped make August the strongest month for home sales in Southern California so far this year and the strongest for an August in six years, reports real estate intelligence firm DataQuick.
Sales in Southern California jumped 9% from July and 14.2% from August 2011. In Los Angeles County, sales were up 20%.
Also on the rise is the median price for a home in Southern California, which rose to a four-year high and increased 10.8% in August 2012 compared to August 2011. In Los Angeles County, the media home price rose to $335,000, up 6.3% year-over-year.
