As residents of Los Angeles, we love our Beach Cities, and we all have that one house (or two, or twenty) along the coast that snatches our attention quicker than a forecast calling for rain. Before you know it we forget our jogging partner who has leaped ahead of us, our bike pedals that are still in motion, or the tug of the leash from our four-legged companion. Fortunately there’s a weekend day when some of the most captivating beach city homes open up their doors. From Manhattan to Hermosa to Redondo, explore some of the most stunning modern architecture that our beach cities have to offer in this Saturday’s annual Beach Cities Modern Home Tour.
Local architectural firms Michael Lee Architects, Dean Nota, and Studio 9one2, among others, are slated for the tour.
The best part? You get to go at your own pace by choosing which homes you tour and when. It’s your chance to explore just how modern architecture embraces sustainability, emerging building techniques, and materials at your leisure. Observe from inside the glass walls, on top of decked-out patios, and in the presence of panoramic ocean views that define and elevate coastal living. There will also be a few homes on tour that are currently for sale and, though usually only reserved for serious potential buyers, will be completely open to the public.
And by the way, this weekend’s forecast is calling for blue, clear skies.
Front doors will be opening at 11:00 am and closing at 5:00 pm. Advance tickets for all-access passes are $30 and can be purchased here. We suggest you wear shoes that can easily be slipped on and off for each home will have their own requirements concerning footwear.
If you have already purchased advanced tickets, you MUST pick them up at any of the four will call locations on the day of the tour beginning at 11:00 am. Will call locations are:
* #1: 233 24th St.
* #6: 143 First Court
* #8: 953 Granvia Altamira
