Now in its second year, LAFW offers unparalleled access to some of the food industry’s most recognizable names, including Guy Fieri, Giada De Laurentiis, Graham Elliot, Michael Voltaggio, Duff Goldman, Michael Chiarello and Scott Conant.
The festival kicks off Thursday, August 9, with Giada’s Festa Italiana at Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE. Giada will be cooking alongside several of her friends and favorite Italian restaurants serving both Italian and Italian-inspired dishes accompanied by international wine varietals.
The festivities continue on Friday during the “Power Lunch Series” as the city’s culinary elite welcome guest chefs to their fine dining establishments for a rare lunchtime service. Enjoy a meal in downtown Los Angeles at Patina with Chef/Founder Joachim Splichal and Guest Chef Hubert Keller; join Michael and Bryan Voltaggio for a lunch at ink. fueled by brotherly love; or experience Wolfgang Puck’s restaurants with lunch at WP24 from Executive Chef John Lechleidner and Guest Chef Charles Phan or at Cut with Ari Rosenson and Guest Chef Lydia Shire.
Friday evening at Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE, Andrew Zimmern of Bizarre Foods celebrates LA’ prominent Asian culture with Asian Night Market featuring local chefs as well as those from afar. In Santa Monica, Graham Elliot of MasterChef will host Summer at the Shore at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows. Beverly Hills plays host to the posh I Heart Champagne & Caviar tasting at the Montage Beverly Hills rooftop, while those looking for multi-course decadence in a traditional dining experience can opt for The Delicacy Dinner or Indulge: Santa Monica.
Saturday’s events include the first of two Lexus Grand Tastings, with more than 25 different celebrity chefs each day, and more than 200 internationally acclaimed wines. In the afternoon there will be cooking demos by Andrew Zimmern, Ming Tsai, Guy Fieri, and Wolfgang Puck. The day is capped off with Lexus LIVE on the Plaza with Wolfgang Puck & Friends, and a live performance by Third Eye Blind.
LAFW concludes Sunday with cooking demos from the Voltaggio brothers and Top Chef-winner Richard Blais; wine and cheese pairing seminar with the Queen of Fromage, Laura Werlin; blind tastings of white and sparkling wines; the second Lexus Grand Tasting; and an exercise in chocolate seduction with Jacques and Hasty Torres.
