Immediately following Monday night’s victory, champagne glasses were raised and the iconic Stanley Cup hoisted. The celebration only continues today as thousands of Southern California’s devoted hockey fans are expected to gather downtown to see the victorious Los Angeles Kings tour the streets in double-decker buses for the 2012 Stanley Cup Championship Parade. The festivities, which begin at noon, will start at Figueroa and 5th Street and loop back to L.A. Live. The celebration culminates with a team-led rally held in the place where all the magic happened, inside the Staples Center.
Just as the King’s proved their resilience by being the first 8th seed team to ever win the title, so too did the infrastructure of Downtown Los Angeles. Its capacity to coordinate several moving parts in the sports and entertainment industry—most notably hosting two franchise teams in the same arena on the same day while a professional cycling race took place just outside—has surely stoked even more development interest in downtown while bolstering hopes of bringing an NFL franchise to the city.
Right in the midst of today’s celebration is The Ritz-Carlton Residences at L.A. LIVE, where you can feel like a King whether or not hockey is in season. With a rooftop deck and swimming pool, cityscape views, and steps-away access to the biggest events in the city like, say, a Stanley Cup Championship Rally, there’s no better time than now to get your gloves—er, hands on a home at The Ritz-Carlton Residences at L.A. LIVE, your front-row ticket to a year long celebration.
If you can’t play hooky from work and head to Downtown LA for the King’s championship celebration, they will be live streaming online the entire parade here.
