The Agency’s listing at 3051 Antelo View Dr. in Bel Air is featured today as Zillow’s “Home of the Week.” The exceptionally private estate, situated on more than 90,000 square feet of property, is the former home of Hollywood legend Merv Griffin and is currently owned by a major Hollywood celebrity. This is the first time in more than 19 years the home has been on the market.
In the video above, The Agency’s Billy Rose takes us on a tour of the 4-bedroom home, which he notes is “evocative of a modern Aspen ski lodge” in design or “could be interpreted as a Balinese Modern Resort.” The single-story residence is approximately 5,500 square feet and is characterized by powerful lodge post poles, 20+ foot ceiling heights and walls of glass that provides the home with an abundance of natural light. Billy shares that Merv was both an avid tennis player and constant entertainer, so it’s no surprise the property features a tennis court, which regularly hosted a “legendary” game, and a beautiful infinity pool and spa with a broad grassy area.
Billy notes that the “home away-from-home” vacation-like feel of the neighborhood is one of the main reasons why the exclusive enclave has been home to so many top stars and celebrities over the years, including Wilt Chamberlain, Farrah Fawcett and Prince. Because the street is owned by the homeowners, and not the city of Los Angeles, several of the current neighbors are looking into increasing the privacy of the neighborhood with the installation of a gate to the main road.
